“So I walked into the kitchen, Peter dropped a coffee mug, it broke, and then he yanked his shorts down,” Wendy mentioned.
“Um, what?” Olivia asked.
“He explained that in the house he grew up in, he had learned to pull his pants down for punishment immediately when he thought he might get in trouble.”
Olivia rolled over onto her bed and stared at the ceiling.
“My gosh oh golly,” she murmured.
Wendy was amused that Olivia said things like “my gosh oh golly.”
“So, what do we do?” Olivia asked.
“Do?” Wendy asked in turn.
“Yeah. It seems like a fascinating case study. It seems like we should, I don’t know, investigate. Find out more.”
Olivia, Wendy, and Mia decide they want to know more about their new roommate, Peter, and his unusual upbringing. What all can they do with this information, they each wonder. When they begin to question him, they learn a great deal about Peter, but they also learn things about themselves, and what they want in life.
